Homewatch is the biggest membership organisation in the country. However, in some areas, people have been reluctant to join Homewatch schemes due to a fear of recrimination by others. To overcome this fear a 'Virtual Homewatch' scheme has been established on Townsend where it is only the police who know who are members of the scheme.
