Jewell Academy's Pre-School

Jewell Academy, recently rated as outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, is delighted to open the doors to its pre-school to 3 year olds on Monday.

The pre-school will provide top quality childcare in an amazing setting, initially providing up to 26 places, for the 15 hours a week of government funded provision. The pre-school is located within Jewell Academy and has its own dedicated room and outside space. The room is large and airy, and is furnished with beautiful natural furniture, and full of engaging activities and toys. The pre-school will also have access to the wide range of facilities and expert staff at the Academy.

The pre-school will be led by Lorna Head, a fully qualified teacher who is an Early Years specialist. Lorna described her excitement about opening the pre-school - 'We have the most fantastic facilities, great staff and a massive range of brand new play equipment. I can't wait to greet our first ever children and get started. We will be teaching the Early Years curriculum, but in a really exciting way.'

The children will experience lots of fun and excitement while at the pre-school, in the first few weeks they will get to know the staff and each other and develop a sense of belonging, in their smart turquoise polo shirts and sweatshirts, which mirror the Jewell Academy school uniform. The children will develop curiosity and creativity through messy play and a wide range of open ended activities such as role play in the home corner, dressing up, sensory play, art and craft activities and much more. The children can develop their spirit of adventure by exploring the wider Jewell facilities, particularly the 'Forest School' being developed on the school grounds, the play trail and allotment.

The pre-school children will also have the opportunity to mix with the older children at Jewell, who will act as role models and heroes to them, helping to provide a seamless transition to the Academy for Reception year.

This all marks an exciting new chapter for Jewell Academy, as part of their vision to raise aspirations and ensure that each, unique, individual child that attends Jewell is able to reach their full potential.

Action Fraud

Action Fraud has noticed a rise in reports concerning the purchase of pets, in particular puppies, advertised for sale via popular online auction websites.

The fraudsters will place an advert of the pet for sale, claiming to have recently moved abroad and the need to re-home the puppies.

Once a sale is agreed and payment is made, usually by money transfer or bank transfer, the pet does not materialise.

The fraudster will usually ask for further advanced payments for courier charges, shipping fees or vet bills.

Action Fraud

Fraudsters have created a high specification website template advertising flat screen televisions for sale which are below market value and do not exist.

Payment is being requested via bank transfer and will offer no protection to the consumer when the television does not arrive.
