Please find some more information about the Active Challenge Routes.
We hope to have our toolkit and web portal up and running by June, at which point people will be able to upload their routes and start creating and keeping walking logs of their activity.
Between now and then, we are asking local people and partners to identify 1 mile routes and start to think about the implications of waymarking them as active challenge routes. It may be that you require planning permission if the route is on a public highway.
We will be supplying everyone who wants to set up a route with a toolkit which will offer guidance about identifying and marking the route, 2 branded way markers per route (you will be able to purchase more at cost), ideas on how to promote it locally (e.g. community challenge events) and how to use the web portal.
There will also be a national campaign to raise the profile of the project. We are still in the early stages of this project and are working on the branding and key messages with our appointed communications contractor, but we hope to have a public-facing ‘name’ for the project that will link closely with Change4Life/Walk4Life later this month.
We will add you to our contact list for people who would like to be involved and I’ve attached a document which I think will be of interest. We will send you out more information as soon as it becomes available.
Best wishes,
Caroline
