Ring Master Message
May 25, 2010, 4:12 am

08/04/2010. This is an information message. Consumer Direct has received a number of calls in recent weeks from worried consumers who have received unsolicited telephone calls at home, often in the evening, purporting to be on behalf of a large computer software company. Consumers are asked to allow remote access to their PC to the caller and are normally told that no fee is payable. However credit card details are asked for and a fee may be taken later. Also an icon may be installed that could be malicious software.

> Anyone who has received such a call should not call the Police but contact Consumer Direct on tel 0845 404 0506
